On the subject of washing machines or any electrical goods Yesterday I recieved a letter from Indesit asking me to pay £62 for a years maintenance cover the year warranty finishes in a couple of weeks. What are your thoughts on this extended warranty I should have thought if some major malfunction occurs after the 1year you should be able to return to manufacture for free of charge repair (I mean with in acouple of years of purchase
£62 is an awful lot! I NEVER do extended warranties, as you say it is normally a case of a letter to the retailer stating that something that cost that much should last a lot longer.
I managed to get the salesman to argue himself out of selling me the extended warranty on my 20 year old freezer! I bought it from Iceland and he asked if he should add on the fee for the extended warranty. I asked him what percentage of catastrophic failures they have for this model, and he said it was very rare for them to fail in the first few years then looked at me and realised what he had said and then said you won't be wanting the extended warranty then :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
If you did want to cover yourself for failures you can get insurance policies to cover all your white goods that are cheaper than that, have a google, other than that I would suggest starting a repair fund savings account, put in there what you would have spent on the various extended warranties and the money is there to pay for repairs. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Fuzz.....don't know what sort of deal you are interested in...but can you buy Halfords cards at M's?....£200 worth would give you 20p off per litre of fuel....or cc points if T's sell them.x
Just looked at morrisonsfuelsaver.co.uk to see if they sell mothercare vouchers as we need a new car seat. What I did notice is they offer a 'visa debit' gift card.
So if I put all my usual cash spending (I.e everything that's not direct debit out my bank account) through one of those I'd get 20p off a litre. Does anyone do this?0 -
Well what a welcome back.
Morning all.
Have no idea what's been happening with you all except DM was looking for a good time last night.
Dodo very kindly let me know few more bits had gone to 1p and as I had to pop to Ts anywhere I had a nosey and found a lonely xmas gift, Espresso set 2 little cups and saucers with little bag of coffee & 2 amaretto biscuits. :T
Will still be MIA for the rest of today but hopefully normal service will be resumed tonight as long as I don't fall asleep on the sofa. :rotfl:
And aau not been doing at all well remembering to take my tablets. When The Fun Stops Stop0 -

Scrap that, theirs a 'purchase fee' on the visa debit cards!0 -
If a washing machine is rumbling, and very noisy on spin, the main suspect is the drum bearings. Drum bearing failure is common on many washing machines due to water getting into them if the drum bearing seal fails. (Hotpoint and Zanussi in particular in my experience) To check for drum bearing failure you can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand. If the drum rumbles when spun then the bearings may have gone. There should be a constant rumble all the time the drum is revolving.
Another drum bearing failure symptom is excessive up and down play in the drum which can be checked for by lifting the drum up and down from the drum lip behind the door seal. A further symptom of drum bearing failure can be a brown rust patch underneath the washing machine and down the back of the outer drum, underneath the drum pulley (where the belt goes) although this patch is not always present. There are usually two small holes at the back of the drum bearings where water that has got past the drum bearing seal trickles out, and it's usually stained with grease and rust if water has got into the bearings.
Does this help?:):)When The Fun Stops Stop0 -
