Good quality laminate flooring

Well, I am almost finished with the three garage conversion into a garden office. The screed floor was laid over 4 weeks ago and we have decided that a good quality laminate flooring would be best.
The Mrs would like dark wood effect (walnut). So, can anyone recommend a quality laminate floor/brand (ideally 10mm thick).
Thanks in advance

Personally I would recommend the Quick-step brand of laminate flooring. I have it both in my house and at my parents. It's been down for 11 years and still looks new. I regularly recommend it to other people as it's hard wearing and easy to install.
I think the thickest laminate they do is 9.5mm. I only ever use the 7mm or 8mm thick ones and it's perfectly adequate.0 -
I'll second Quickstep. Just had it put down in my lounge.
Whatever you get, I'd recommend fitting the skirting boards on top rather than having beading.0 -
Thank you Jellie and Mr Vampy. Quick Step it is for laminate flooring then :-)"I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0

I've just put Quick Step Country "Natural Oak" all downstairs in my house and its lovely, looks really natural. There's a darker version "Colonial Oak" (below) which might be the type you're looking for.0

Well Maas, the wife took one look at that flooring and said "I want it!"
That floor from Quick Step looks amazing!
Right, off to find a dealer and get the floor ordered.
Thank you all for advice."I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0 -
Hi-jacking as i'm still making decisions on quick-step vs laminate planks - that looks lovely - those who have it, is it much colder to walk on in socks vs carpet? And will it stain with the odd pet accident?
They are well priced on the iloveflooring website ritesh.0 -
That does look pretty good maas. I'm still planning to go for an engineered wood floor, but laminate has clearly improved a lot. What puts me off about the wood-effect laminate is that its trying to look like something it isn't and I'm not sure I can get over that.0

It's colder than carpet, but nowhere near as cold as tiles.
Shouldn't stain with pet accidents provided it's cleaned up straight away, which you should do with any liquid spillage.
Quickstep is a good quality laminate and you can tell when you compare it with cheap ones. I've just had it put in the lounge - I'm very happy with it.0 -
Hi guys
Please shop around when buying Quick Step, we recently had fitted a large quantity and we went to the normal high street retailers and got quotes,by purchasing offline we saved £9,00 per pack which was a large amount of money and the stock was delivered the following day0 -
Yeah order online. The Quick-Step Country ranges anywhere from £20/mtr up to £35mtr for the same stuff!
I got mine from Factory Direct Flooring which was as cheap as I could find it.
I was going to go with Engineered Wood, that was my initial plan (in fact Real Wood even before that!) but various things put me off it in the end and after looking at some of the top laminate and reviews online I decided to go with it.
I've had friends around who've thought it was real wood and tradesmen who've been around and said "Oh I like you're flooring!"!0
