Mortgage on buying 2 properties

Hi Everyone,
I am needing some advice.
My partner and I have found a very nice house out in the country and are looking to buy it. It is an old school house and next door to it there is an old unoccupied country school attached. The school itself is for sale through the local council and would make a fantastic expansion to the original house. What i was wondering was, can you get one mortgage for both properties or can you have 2 separate mortgages? The value of both together is £250K and the banks will lend us up to £275K. We have a 50K deposit to put down also. I appreciate its quite a unique situation but was wondering the possibilities mortgage wise.
