Yorkshire building society mortgage payment insurance

I contacted the Yorkshire using Martins template requesting details of a policy I believed we had in connection with a previous mortgage.

Anyway had to pay 10 pounds and apply via data protection to get the information and today have received a massive lot of paperwork.

I am trying to piece it all together but what I have found is a letter from my husbands employer to the Yorkshire confirming that the employer had a long term disability income policy in place and what it covered etc..this was dated the 28th July 2001.

Then I have found a copy of the mortgage payment insurance showing the monthly mortgage payment box ticked and a figure entered together with the box ticked for accident and sickness (disability) and unemployment... we signed this on the 26th July 2001.

Why would the Yorkshire be requesting the information from my husbands employer via an enquiry form?

Does it all seem abit fishy?!
