Towbar advice (be gentle!)

    OP have you considered looking at ebay? if the car is 5+ years old you should be able to find used towbars on there. People sell their cars but new owner doesnt want to pay more for the towbar so they get sold seperately.

    The problem with a 2nd hand towbar is the missing bits. Or the risk of buying a towbar off an accident damaged car.

    On the Mondeo they have a steel sleeve inside the chassis rails. You cannot fit the towbar without the sleeves because it crushes the chassis. Offering no strength at all.

    Lots of them on ebay without the sleeves. The tend to rust inside the rails or fall in when people remove the bolts.

    There was a guy selling one sometime back. He fitted the hatchback towbar to his estate and because it didnt reach past the bumper he welded a piece of bar in to lengthen it. Selling it on ebay with the
    " i dont know if this is safe disclaimer. "
