Seeking Advice...Other charges

When I couldn't pay my council tax it got passed to Newlyn Collection Services via the courts. I phoned Newlyn and agreed to pay the balance of £670.17 in three parts.

£150 at the time of the phonecall - 26th April
£260.08 - 26th May
£260.09 - 26th June

I made the May payment as agreed but couldn't get the final payment to them until today - 2nd July (6 days late - 5 without the Sunday during which they are not open for business).

Because of my lateness in making the final payment by 5 or 6 days they charged me £105.09.

Newlyn made no effort to contact me when I failed to meet the agreement, no post, visit or telephone call.

Does the same principles of "..can only impose charges which are in proportion to their costs" apply in this case?

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, if you've got copies of these charges you can move straight onto step 3 and put the figures into the calculator.

If not request the list of charges and follow the stages.
