I need 40foot of fencing replaced..

I haven't had a quote yet but would like a rough idea so I don't make a complete fool of myself when the first quote gets here.Am fed up as neighbout want's nothing to do with fence whatsoever, well in contributing anyway!! He did have huge conifer type tree's but cut 'em down leaving roots where new fence is to go. Am looking at having it about 6ft high, have tried to price up on net( all morning) no joy. Don't want anything fancy, just planks, closed up , for privacy, any ideas?
ps, I'm in northeast england-had yard fenced off last year, but dad ended up reinforcing planks 'cos man wouldn't come out to finish job, might have done had I been a big hairy bloke!!!
Thankyou.

Last time I had my fence panels replaced a couple of years ago I was quoted £40 per fence panel supplied and fitted. These were 4 ft high * 6 ft long horizontal panels though. Sounds like you need approx 7 panels assuming each panel is 6ft high * 6 ft long. Vertical panels will cost more.

Be aware timber prices have gone up recently due to raw material shortage.

If you can afford it get the concrete posts put in. They have a groove that the panel slots in to. Then, as you need to replace the panels you can just lift them out & replace yourself, no need to get anyone in to do it for you (although it's a 2 person job it's quick & easy) The concrete posts don't look so good, but I grow things up mine.

I painted mine in the dark brown stain in with the fence,(waterbased type)so the grey concrete is not in your face and they have lasted.:D

Singlehouseholder, I have this type of fence up, have had it done about 7 years ago, and it has lasted through the horrific weather we have had the last few years, neighours on other side has lost thier panels loads of times.

It is more pricy than the ordinary panels, but well worth it, specially if your intending to stay for some years.

We replaced 7 - 6ft x 5ft high fence panels earlier this year. We already had the posts and bases. My OH and son fitted the new panels quite easily, we paid around £85 (ish) for the panels and the neighbour went halves. The council collected the old panels at no cost. Cheapish job.

    Good luck

Concrete posts were about £12 (ex VAT) for the straight ones but the corner one cost something like £45! Luckily I only needed one of those. That was from Jewsons.
