Hi,

My partner and I are moving into our new house soon and we've started looking at gas and electricity (using consumption figures given to us by the couple moving out). They use First Utility, and based on the consumption figures it looks like Ovo are going to be our best option.

We are just wondering at what point can we arrange with Ovo to become our gas and electricity suppliers? Do we have to wait until the day we move in? Or can it be done in advance? Just obviously we do not have an account currently with First Utility yet as that won't be done until we move in.

The day you move in you are Duty Bound by a deemed contract to report your occupancy and meter readings to First Utility, once they have acknowledged the change of customer at this address, you are free to start the Switch process to Ovo or any other supplier

If you look at the posts on this site about FU you may well come to the conclusion that Customer Service is not their strong point, so keep in mind that any Complaint you may have is best made in writeing.
