Delay in new car delivery

Hi all
I ordered a new car from a well known manufacturer on 19th Feb. At this time I was told that it would be delivered WC 24th Feb, to be plated up on 14 plate Sat 1st March.
As it stands, I haven't had my car yet! Now, it's not the dealers fault, it sounds like there has been some confusion with tracking the delivery, the system is showing it arrived at the dealer on the 28th Feb. They have had other deliveries since.
The dealer have been really good to me - the reason I swapped my car was because the one I have at the moment is really poor on fuel consumption so I'd gone for something much more economical. Because I'm currently spending around £40 a week on fuel (and I don't do a lot of miles!) the garage have said they will give me £100 as a goodwill gesture, which is great.
My question is, how long would you leave it before you really kicked off, and am I entitled to ask for a further discount? You would think that when the new plates come out twice a year then these manufacturers would be more than ready to deal with the influx of orders!!

They probably have your car in the bodyshop.. Another brand new but already repaired vehicle.
When you do get it you may want to have a very close look at the paintwork.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I would doubt they have anything in the contract that means you are entitled to any sort of compensation for a delay, although i would imagine you could cancel because of the delay, but thats hardly solving things.
Have they given you a revised delivery date, and if not why not?0 -

What a particularly pointless, nasty and unnecessary thing to say.
You have no evidence of support this.0 -
The vehicle order form should have terms and conditions on the back. It sets out how long the dealer has to deliver the vehicle beyond the scheduled date (usually 28 days). They are not obliged to compensate you within this time, but a good dealer will provide a goodwill gesture.
If this is indeed the case, and it is simply a delivery delay of some sort, then they have acted well in compensating you. However, although I don't agree with forgetmenot's tone, it is a valid point that you should certainly be given a very clear and honest explanation as to why the car is late.
With any new car, you should always check your paperwork and the vehicle before accepting it. You now have an extra reason to do so.0 -
Audi brochures state they will provide a car for you if they fail to deliver your new car on time.0
