Daighters 54 plate Astra needs new ecu so debating whether to spend £650 + VAT on a 10 year old car or look at the Peugeot 107 "Just add fuel" deal £1600 deposit and £139 per month for 3 years inc insurance, servicing and al other costs.
Has anyone taken this deal and is it all its cracked up to be?

Is that your personalised quote or just the headline rate quoted?
As long as you meet the criteria for the insurance (age, length of license, claims history, NCD etc) then it is what it says on the tin.
Evidently need to shop around to ensure that getting everything from one company is actually cheaper than getting them separately.
Not really comparable though is it? a £650 car that will be worth about the same in 3 years time or £6600 on a car that you give back after 3 years0 -
Have you looked at second hand/refurb ECU? not quite as good as new but might be cheaper than a new car.0

ECU from a breakers £20? Refurbished one with a warranty probably under £100 fitted.
Over £6500 to rent a 107 for 3 years? How much are they to buy? At least you will own it after paying all that money.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Plenty of 54 plates on the road still looking good. I sometimes see a nice W plate or similar and think if only I'd kept my old Peugeot estate ... the money I've wasted on motors since that one has been a joke!0

No personal experience, but "just add fuel" is just a type of personal lease/hire, you don't get to own the car at the end of the term unless you go with their passport option.
So cost is £1,600 deposit plus £139 x 36 = £6,604
So at the end of the three years do you hand the car back with nothing to show for your £6,604 or do you then pay the guaranteed final balloon payment in order to keep the car, if so, then you need to factor the final payment into the deal.
It could still be good as if you bought a car 2nd hand you'd have to insure, tax and service it. But then tax will be small for a little engined car, servicing probably once a year costs about £100 and insurance may be where this makes or breaks the deal.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0
