Blue Badge renewal - help please

Hi, Mum's Blue Badge needs to be renewed.
She has a number of conditions that makes walking distances difficult.
She still drives, on very rare occasions, she is usually driven by me.

She is worried about listing all her ailments on the form in case 'they' decide that she is not fit to drive.

Is this likely to happen?

AFAIK, the local authority (who renew the blue badge) are not in a position to decide who can and cannot drive.

If your mother has checked whether any of her ailments need to be declared to DVLA, or require her to surrender her licence, and declared those that do, then she has nothing to worry about.

Thank you, that's what I thought.
The conditions have all been declared to the DVLA - (just recently renewed her licence).
I will go ahead and fill in the form.

    many thanks

  • If DVLA are content your mother is fit to drive and there have been no relevant changes (including a medical professional involved her care changing their opinion her fitness to drive), that is conclusive. The Local Authority cannot challenge her fitness to drive.

Have you considered using the online Blue Badge application system? Amongst other things, those in England can track their application online.
