Advice needed urgently

Options
My husband was married previously and he had a joint mortgage with YBS. Skip ten years forward and we decided to ring YBS to see if there was PPI on this mortgage which there was. Problem being YBS said they need his ex wife's agreement to open a case but she won't play ball (even though she might get some money) so we are stuck. Can anyone suggest something?

Of course it may be that she realises it as correctly sold and does not want to involve herself in a fraudulent complaint.

What did op say that suggests it might be a fraudulent complaint?

Nothing, but if it was correctly sold then it's possible it could be . . .

She would hardly be likely to broadcast it if it was.

It is one of the things I have to look at.

Anyway, given that most mortgage PPI is correctly sold (and so most complaints about it fail), it is not an unreasonable possibility to consider.

Just to clarify it was missold as it was never ever requested but YBS added it anyway.

That is one of the weakest reasons going and you rarely see any success on that particular reason due to lack of evidence. Have you anything stronger?

Although IIRC, Yorkshire bank was monthly direct debit on their MPPI and up to around the early 2000s, it was mandatory to buy an insurance product to get the special mortgage deal. That is allowed. So, if you fall within that period, it would make an easy rejection.

How do you know? Were you there?

Why did your other half not query why a separate payment was coming out each month?

How do you know? Were you there? Obviously not as I said in my original post - he was married to his ex wife at this point - offensive actually as you were already aware of this fact!

He was earning a significant salary at this point and it was 'missed' due to the fact that the ex wife was managing all of the finances and giving him an allowance each month - just the tip of the abusive relationship ( both financially and emotionally ) I'm afraid

Thankyou we will explore this further as we were both unaware it was mandatory at this point
