Help Soggy Wet Carpet In Front Of Window!

This morning I found a large area of our Carpet soaking wet in front of our UPVC Double Glazed window! The window was shut over night. And there is no obvious place where the water (Rain?) has got in! However a few months ago I found a damp patch on the wall beside the window and a damp smell, but on investigation the carpets were dry and we put the damp patch down to condensation as it was behind some stuff we had stored there!

The raditor was off and dry (On now to try and dry the carpet out!). The only place the water could have come from appears to be the window. There is a chanel between the seal and the inside when the window opens and this is full of water. And it possibly has leaked from the window down on to the window sill and on to the carpet (But the sill and wall under the window is dry!)

I telephoned our Window supplier (Anglian) who can't send anyone out for 2 weeks (Despite me saying that the carpets are soaked and more rain is forcast).

It all seems very strange! Any suggestions please.

I have now discovered (due to a recent downpour) that the rain is coming in through the top of the window which is not sealing, there is a gap of about 6mm.

Anyone know how to adjust the window to make it seal!

    Please!

As an emergency stopgap, how about some thick insulating tape?

And a call to trading standards :-D 2 weeks is too long! How long have you had the windows for?

Try some Duck tape for now. So is it the seal (black flexible stuff) that goes between the window and the frame.

Thanks, Hubby has wedged the window which has closed the gap a bit and is now sticking some Duck tape over the window!

We've had the windows for 5 years, so we are half way through the 10 year guarantee!

Anglian said they only come out in an emergency if you can't lock or close your front door! Not very helpful!

    Thanks again.
