I need to convert a document to Word but can't find any way to do this on my old[but servicable]XP computer.
Following various google trails has not helped..
There is OpenOffice.org3.0.
Could someone kindly advise me in simple-speak?
Thankyou in advance.

What format is the document you want to convert to Word ? , Word is a program, not necessarily a type of document.
Word can read many document formats - but if you do not have MS office on your computer you do have WORDPAD, that may read in your doc.
start - programs - accessories-wordpad
Other option if no MS Office is download Libre Office. (Free)0 -
Do you have Word installed on any of the computers in your possession?
Can you open the document you want to convert, using the program it was created with?
If you can answer Yes to both, open the source document, select all the text (Ctrl+A), copy the text to the clipboard with Ctrl+C, open a doc in Word, and Paste the text into it.0 -
If you don't have a copy of Word on your computer but do have some other word processor then you should be able to save the document as a .rtf, which can be opened by Word and most, if not all, word processors.0
