Can MSE please tell us how much income through whatever channels they receive from the big supermarkets?
That is the only thing that can explain this (non) story being peddled every couple of months. As with all supermarket offers they are all just smoke and mirrors.
I think it is a fair story to run to remind readers to check fuel prices. There aren't many ways that you can avoid spending £10 more for something purely by watching where you fill. With a 17p per litre difference between places locally you can make big savings, I'm sure most people wouldn't just hand over £10 to a shop when they didn't need to - but that's what they do by not checking the price.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
This must be the third time "MSE" have published a similar story in the last three months. Each time the price has been "reduced" to the same amount it was "reduced" the previous time. This is pathetic for a serious site.
I have reported this as spam, same as did last time, and urge everyone to do the same.
Shall we run a sweepstake on when the prices go up again so that they can then be "reduced" to 132.7 again?0 -

Prices haven't gone up around here. I've been paying either the same or slightly less now over the last 3 months.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

That link does not work any more, I wonder why? I sent a PM suggesting this was not serious journalism and got a reply as follows from MSE Andrea:
Hi harrys dad
We're a friendly bunch here at MSE and are simply trying to help people save money. Whether or not supermarkets do it for free publicity, if we feel something's worth letting people know about we will.
Please don't speak to our staff in this way again, it's really not fair on them when they're working really hard to help people.
Thanks!0 -

Searches seem to be volatile and only last maybe 20 or 30 minutes0 -
Fair enough. If it's not of interest to you then skip over it. Their site, they can put whatever news they want and it is a bit petty to mark it as spam.harrys_dad wrote: »That link does not work any more, I wonder why? Considering all the moans about fuel prices, anything that highlights ways to save is a good thing in my book.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Yeah, don't question anything, no matter how stupid it is.
After all, it's their site!0
