parkingeye charge

I recently had a meeting at a coffee shop - on entering asked the assistant about the 2 hour limit and she said if I gave her my vehicle details (which I did) that it would be Ok if I was over the 2 hour limit.
You guessed it - got a parking charge notice for being there 2 hours and 16 minutes. (£100 - really!)
Can't dispute that there were signs or that I saw them but am slightly annoyed - Is there anything I can do or do I have to just pay up?????

So when you posted on another thread yesterday and saw these replies:

How exactly did you come to post this thread now, a whole days later, yet still clueless even though we told you to read the sticky threads and learn how to appeal?

Come on, this is what a newbie can do after reading the info on the forum already (several links here):

None of them started a thread, none of them posted twice having not read anything...they just read the advice & got on with winning the appeal.
