Goldfish/barclaycard rejection

Hi - I have today received a letter from Barclaycard saying they do not feel I was mis-sold PPI on my Goldfish Card (Barlaycard took over Goldfish), as I signed up by post and must have ticked the box saying I wanted PPI and therefore I had made my own decision. I was never contacted by anyone from the company checking on whether the PPI was appropriate to me (it isn't as I was covered elsewhere through work). Is this reason enough to say I was not mis-sold? Any help would be appreciated as I didn't really want to go through the Financial Ombudsman route. Thanks :j

The Bank don't have to do this, you were not actively sold the insurance and the responsibility for checking whether it was suitable was your own when you applied for it by post.
Effectively, you mis-bought the insurance rather than were mis-sold it.

FOS is very unlikely to overturn the Bank's decision in such cases. However, you can certainly refer the complaint to them if you wish. Be aware that Ombudsman referrals currently take in excess of 18 months.
