Electric assisted bike = "motor bike"

I can think of nothing worse than a heavy bike which you may have to pedal from time to time.
As Richard and others have pointed out, save yourself a lot of money and buy a nice, light hybrid bike.

I like the fact the assistance on these electric bikes can be adjusted so as I get fitter I can turn it down, so in the case of the CD, level 1 just about counters the weight of the bike. I just don't think I'd use a hybrid bike, mentally I want the 'backup' of its electric power if I'm knackered and won't be afraid of going down steep hills knowing I'll have to come back up and I'll venture further too. If I have cars blasting past me at 50, I don't want to be wheezing up a hill doing 2mph, hate cycling on roads as it is!
