Confused about losing no claims.

I'm reading online about No claims Bonus.
I have 6 years no claims (not protected). I was in an accident and this will be going down as my fault.
Some sites say you lose all your no claims, others say you lose some. Could anyone point me somewhere clear please?
I'm with Hastings Direct

It depends really. I'm assuming there isn't one rule from what I read? I assumed you start from 0. However reading other sites this isn't always the case.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
You're right, there isn't one rule which is why you need to speak to Hastings and ask them how they deal with it. Asking on forums and checking unrelated websites MAY give you the right answer but as you've found out the answers can differ so the only people who can give you the information you require accurately are the insurance company involved.0

Thanks. Having never needed to look before I didn't realize there was a grey area. Shall give them a call tomorrow. Already bothered them today asking about my car :-)I get what i want. Look on the back of your policy document. I'm with People's Choice who are basically the same as Hastings and that's where it tells me. My guess is that you go down to 2 years NCD.0
