Gas installed

I am wanting to change from solid fuel to gas - any advice on getting attached to the mains I should be aware of to keep costs down?

To a large extent it depends how far your house is from the gas main.

The subject has been raised on MSE many times and posters have been quoted from a very reasonable couple of hundred pounds, to many thousands.

If you have a long front garden, it might reduce costs if you dig a trench yourself.

Digging the trench doesn't really reduce the costs these days.

Speak with your local gas transporter, or to a supplier. As an employee, I recommend BG.

Do your neighbour's have gas, if not the cost is likely astromical because there may beno main in the area.

Cost will depend on how far you are from a gas main. With 23m the cost should be around the £600 mark, but can go up by a lot the further you are.
