Done something stupid - changing mortgage offer between exchange/completion

Hello, I may have just made a terrible mistake.

I have a mortgage offer from Skipton Building Society in November for a 90% LTV on a house that I exchanged on over a month ago.

Since then I managed to scrape another 5% together and have asked them for an 85% LTV mortgage offer instead.

However, I just looked at my online banking and saw to my horror that I have a late payment charge on my credit card - I usually have a direct debit set up to pay off the minimum and then I pay more off when I like. I must have deleted this direct debit by accident (I was clearing up my online banking recently so I suspect I did it then).

My question is - will Skipton be looking at my credit file again, or will they just be updating my offer as I have more deposit? Does anyone know? Will one late payment (for this month) show up on my credit file already, and will it tarnish an otherwise perfect credit?

I'm due to complete next month, and if I've messed this up by fiddling around with my account online I will be so angry with myself!

You could get in touch and ask them to keep the offer as it is?

Did you go through a broker? This is the sort of thing i would call my account manager for and see what he says.

I have a mortgage advisor with L&C. Waiting for him to call me back. In the meantime I'm in major panic mode!

So, panic over. Spoke to Barclaycard and they said it wont show up on my credit report as I've paid, and I'm a good customer.

Spoke to the broker and he said I'm unlikely to be credit checked again anyway as they were satisfied with my report in November.

    Phew.
