    Cheers for the input,blulu.

I must say that I am very confused as to your stance re posting comps found on other sites.
Surely the link is the main thing? The rest is just "decoration",as it were?

Get the link & all follows from there, even if others add the terms & such?

Given your "minimal" posting of actual comps since 2011 maybe it is an easy stance to take?

Hi ya, I'll try to explain, though of course it's fine if you don't agree.

The link is indeed the main thing. But my point is that posting about a competition does not give that poster any ownership of that comp. The comp is owned by the comp host only. So if someone spots a comp that isn't listed here, on Loquax or anywhere else I think it is fine to post that competition wherever they want to, as long as they have no reason to believe that the comp host would mind.

It's different re C&Ping large chunks of text. Whatever anyone says people are bound to make use of the info they find. That's what the Internet is all about after all. So if someone lists answers, then like it or not, anyone can and will make use of it. Being sniffy about it is a waste of energy. But they should probably paraphrase rather than C&P.

Yes, your honour, I am guilty as charged of not posting many comps. But that doesn't mean I can't hold a valid opinion on the issue. I do post info that I hope will be useful, and I don't care who uses that info. I don't even care if they C&P it - although I accept that others do mind that, and understand why.

So if you were peeking at Loquax and saw a comp there that you realised wasn't posted here, I don't see why you should resist posting about that comp here. If you'd found it somewhere else on the net it would've been ok to post about it, so why not from a friendly rival comp site? Both sites would benefit from sharing info in my humbles.

Hope you're no longer confused re my stance hun.

Possibly, but under the old Loquax system, being copied/borrowed from/sourced or whatever was a right PITA - not just by individuals but by other sites.

I really don't think a lot of folks had any idea the time and energy we put in to the site so that our visitors had a top notch service. So when our time/effort was effectively 'taken' by others it was a right kick in the teeth. Compounded because we weren't even covering server costs or time costs by doing it.

So that may explain why back in the day it was a problem - at least from my pov.

But with social media where anything and everything is shared around it's probably nay on impossible to contain things - so it's probably good I got out the game :)

    Interesting discussion though.

All I would add is that is that it appears that posting comps to any portal is often a "parisitical" action.

Each site seems to to "feed" off others, not withstanding than some of us post from regular sites.

To say that this "parasitical" conduct will not take place is just pure naivety in my view.

Cheers Luckyone - you do an awesome job!

I've checked through and some have since been listed but I've just posted the ones that haven't. At least they didn't come up in the search anyway...

Personally I quite like Loquax but each to their own :)

yep, each to their own Compcrazy
I like quite a few of the comping sites & have comping buddies on other sites who often help on mse & vice versa,
each has their own way of listing comps which in my humbles is a good way of checking/helping/finding answers/comps/new sites for comps & quite a few times has bought us compers together helping each other, way I see it at the end of the day we're all in it for the love of comping x

Wow! I wrote that on 12th March. I had to go back and refresh my memory.

I do indeed endorse what you call "parasitical comping" hun. I just don't see it as parasitical or negative. I consider information-sharing to be a good thing thing, and see other comp sites as friendly 'rivals'.

I'm curious, what made you come back to this subject now, after all this time?

Post was bumped by another user a couple of days ago IIRC, ( :o I may be wrong tho', it has been known, :rotfl:)

Am more puzzled as several posts seem to have disappeared overnight...
Probably best not to dwell further ;)
