Parking charge scam email

Hi,

Just thought I'd give a heads up about this scam email I received from "Justice.gov.uk" regarding a "Parking Charge" as I haven't heard of this one before.
REMINDER NOTICE DO NOT IGNORE

Your vehicle was recorded parked on our Clients Private Property at =
Katherine Road
driveways from 12.13.23PM to 14.40.36PM on the 11.02.2014 and remained =
on site for 2 hour 27 min.
A notice was sent to you on 6.03.2014 which gives 28 days to pay full =
PARKING CHARGE or challenge the issue.

The amount of £70.00 is now dueIf payment not received within 28 =
days, an additional 40.00 administration
charge will be incurred.Failure to pay the full outstanding balance =
within 14 days of the date of this notice could result
in the outstanding balance being registered as a debt against you. You =
will also become liablefor additional costs and
interest invoiced. Your ability to obtain credit in the future could be =
affected.

We are holding photographic evidence on file to support this claim.
YOU CAN FIND COPIES OF PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE AND FORMS
FOR MAKING PAYMENT IN ATTACHMENT BELOW.

As this came to my work email the attachment was not available so I can't tell you what that was called, not that I would have opened it anyway. I'm guessing that's were the trickery lies :eek:

  • Exactly the same message came through to my work email (iow.gov.uk) this morning, did have me searching through my calendar to work out where I was. Well done MSE for posting it so quickly.

    I received one of these this morning too... Usually i'm quick to spot a scam, but this one did get me checking online!

    How strange that I was also parked in the same place as scorpio_biker! :)
  • my other half got this email.
    so I looked up the address.
    London.
    I don't think so.
    we have not been to London in years.
    so then I knew it was a scam.
  • I received this email too this morning. It's amazing how they caught us all parking in the same place at exactly the same time :rotfl:
  • My girlfriend got the same email the attachment labeled "Evidence_0F18D11BA.zip" i downloaded and scanned toughly and opened on a secure clean device, it opened as a application and when opened disappeared. found a new line in the registry of the clean device most likely a key logger or malware use caution
  • I have received 2 of these today,,, And Now also have the same email from Orange about a bill to be paid
