    There are really three approaches:

    1 - Strategic ignorance (e.g. HYP)
    2 - Lots and lots of research, buy only what you understand and know why you are doing it (e.g. Buffet)
    3 - Share tips, tea leaves, monkey with a pin

    There's nothing wrong with using approach 3 to get you some ideas to use in approach 2, but there is no substitute for research.

    DYOR YMMV etc etc
