Temporary Car Insurance for students.

My girlfriend has her university student daughter on temporary insurance during the holidays. More Than allowed her 5 periods of 3 weeks for £50 a time. On the renewal the quote has gone up over 200%, which is untenable. We have contacted other insurers and they limit to 28 days, over 25's only etc.
Anyone know of any insurers that would broadly follow More Than's conditions?
Thanks.

I have a Jag XF and I did enquire at renewal how much to put my 22yr old son on (4 yrs driving experience). £800 extra!
However they did offer to allow him on for short periods up to a max of 90 days per year.
Currently on holiday with him as the spare driver this week for the princely sum of £22.90 of which £15 is admin fee.
This is the third time we've done it, just as a relief driver on the 5 hour journey to Cornwall. I don't allow him to drive it on his own, he's got his own car for that.:D0 -
Assuming the daughter is a named driver. 5x £50 =£250. How much is it to add her as an annual named driver.0

At the end of his first year with 12 weeks left on our insurance before renewal we added our 19 year old for a little under £500 on a mk3 cavalier group 8 1.8 Hatch as a named driver. Given that he drove about 1000 miles in the time, it wasn't a bargain.
We added a 17 year old and a 20 year old to a Mini cooper as named drivers, and it cost an extra £1950 for 1 year.0 -

Hi Trotski
Here's what I did in your situation. Use the comparison sites (with dummy names and address) and request quotes with the student as a named driver. I think the resulting quotes will then indicate which insurers are "young driver friendly" (or "young driver tolerant", if you prefer).
Then get "real" quotes from those insurers (without the student named driver) and phone to ask about their rules on temporary drivers.
(I ended up looking at Bell and Privilege, but that was some years ago, and things may have changed.)0
