Old style daily Monday 10th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning sistercas and all that follow :)

Beautiful day yesterday, felt like Spring was really here and I managed to get lots of washing dry outside.

Bad night's sleep due to odd neighbour making a racket at 3am, then we could not get back to sleep.

Am away on business for the rest of the week but hope I can get some internet access to keep in touch with everyone's news. Will really miss DH desperately, I hate being away from him :(

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

  • Good morning all, yesterday was glorious (except my cast made my arm itch like crazy) managed to get all but bedding washed and that will be done today as look like it will be another pleasant day. Got so much done yesterday , the nicer weather really makes me happy . Long may it last.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Today I must clean my front room windows as I have a puppy mentioning no names Scarlett who did some lovely nose art on them whilst she was watching my neighbour cutting his grass yesterday.
Dinner today will be baked potatoes, tuna and salad for dd and myself and ds will have baked potato, sausages beans and cheese .
Am thinking about having all my grass in my back garden taken away and replaced with slabs or such as have a terrible problem with next doors 8-9 cats messing in our back garden. Sorry if your eating and reading at the same time . Am so fed up of it , can't really afford it yet but am at the end of my tether with them . Any proven ways to stop them coming in . They aren't put off by 2 dogs on the property as they come in when the dogs are in.

Right enough laying in bed for me just heard the factory bell (road near us) go off for end of shift so that's my signal to be up , take meds and more importantly put the kettle on

Good Morning chums and what a beautiful spring morning it is at the moment The sun is up and looking out from my window I can see it turning the River Medway a gorgeous colour.I only wish i could paint whayt my eyes can see IYKWIM..
Today is my eldest DGD Katie's 21st birthday and I can't believe how the time has flown by.One minute she is a little girl in pigtails and a scooter haring around, next she is all grown up and engaged and in the process of buying their first home together with her young man Tommy. You really do have to treasure each moment of children or grandchildren as it does seem to go so quickly.
This morning I have Book club and I finished my book last night.Odd one I must admit, but I did eventually enjoy it.It was called 'Atonement' and at first it took awhile to get into but not a bad book all round.
Busy week this week and I have lots to do.So I'd better get a shift on as I am gasping for a cuppa
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, sun trying to peep through some wispy clouds, looks like it’s going to be another decent day, chilly at the moment though but it’ll soon warm up. Washing ready to go on the line shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was a frozen pork joint, new potatoes, veg, Yorkshires and gravy. Don’t normally buy those frozen joint things, but as we didn’t know what time we’d be home it was a good standby to just bung in the oven when we got back so I could do a decent meal that didn’t take to long to cook.

Had a good weekend, the dinner on Saturday night was great and the food excellent, was good to catch up with everyone, and the caravanning session is now getting underway, hope we can continue getting some good weather as it makes it even better when you can be outside more.

Back to work today for me, probably be a manic Monday but I prefer it to be busy as it makes the day pass quicker.

    Keep safe and well x

I'd really rather stay home with hubby today, but heyho, I have to go to work.
Re cats in the garden, it would be a lot of expense to put slabs down & probably wouldn't make any difference, We graveled out front garden so we had some where to park & the local cats all use it as a toilet, we've tried everything to no avail, they also used to ruin all our veggies from the back garden too by digging them up etc. We've never found a way of dissuading them from using our garden as a toilet, we've protected our back garden with netting & it has cost us a fortune & we just have to tolerate our front garden stinking of cat !!!!.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Light here, it's the first morning I haven't had to put the kitchen lamp on when I've got up. Hoping it wont rain today, it was pouring on and off yesterday, no lovely sunny weather for us!!

Just had an e-mail from DS2 who is travelling in Asia, really glad as even though I didn't think he was around the air disaster I couldn't settle till I knew for certain. Anyway he is currently in hospital in East Timor with Dengue Fever - nothing minor for my boy! He says he feels a lot better with the iv fluids and anti-Bs but has lost about 10kg and there wasn't a lot of him to begin with.

Going to topcoat the dressing table when I get in from work, can't wait although I did order knobs for it of the interweb yesterday at a cost of £48! Glad I got the dressing table for free!

Mince something for tea, salads for lunch. House a tip from decorating but we're happy!!

Have a good week. Take care. XX

    Morning all,
Lovely sunny day in Hastings. My front and back gardens are looking fab, spent all last week gardening. Planted potatos, shallotts, lettuce, radish and carrots. The greenhouse smells of cat poo, but do you think I can find it?

DD came over yesterday with DGC. The baby is so gorgeous now,you want to eat him!:rotfl:
DD has an interview tomorrow for the maternity dept at the hospital. She already works there on another ward, but wants to be a midwife, so I hope she gets it.

I have decided to stop doing my Dad's finances and shopping. I have handed the chequebook and card over to him, the home can do his shopping. I am sick of the Social Services dept accusing me of stealing his money when I haven't. This way if he spends it all (which he probably will) it's not down to me.;)

    Have a good day all.

    Hi everyone,

OMG Hilstep, that's terrible, I don't blame you for washing your hands of it.

Another one here with a cat problem - they never used to come in the garden when we had our dog, now they stroll across the lawn, it makes me think we need to get another dog. We have the same problem in Yorkshire, although that is paved but the cats use it as a toilet, grr, why can't they use their own gardens.

It's overcast today but I'll try to get a bit of gardening in, I want to get into the habit of little and often because I don't really enjoy it but it's not too hard to keep tidy when I start.

I also want to get the car cleaned and try cooking kidney beans and then chilli in my new pressure cooker. Does anyone know if beans break up in the pressure cooker if they are already cooked and then put in a dish again?

    Have a good day.

    Morning to everyone :hello:

It is another beautiful and sunny day today, shame to be at work - especially since we are quiet today.

Tea is already done, we have chicken dinner plated up from yesterday, just need to do some gravy.

Been making lists for diffferent style hampers (part for birthdays but also for Christmas - sorry I know it's only March :rotfl:)

Well have a lovely day everyone and Happy Monday :j
