Basin Mixer Taps - can I do without pop up waste?

We are looking at buying basin mixer taps but nearly all the ones we like have pop up wastes. I have heard that these nearly always snap. Can the lever at the back be removed or if we buy one will it just look as if it's broke if somebody tries to use it and we don't connect it?
Thanks
Thanks

yes you can use it without the pop up waste, but unless your basin has a hole for a plug & chain you won't have anywhere to fix the chain, although you could buy a waste like a click-clac or one with a captured plugI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Our pop up waste on the bath broke, the side of the bath id tiled so a real pain. The flip ones look good, the puh botton ones can also be unreliable.0

I fitted these and they are brilliant. Come in either slotted or unslotted
