Daughter's Fundraising Help Please??

Hi,

I'm new to the Charities board so please accept my apologies if I am asking too many stupid questions.

My daughter (14) is about to start fundraising for a locally based (but international) charity in preparation for a possible trip to Kenya in about a year's time.

We are trying to come up with a different way for her to raise funds (rather than the usual boot sale, sponsored run etc) and want to find the best ways of doing this.

She has a lovely singing voice (alright I know i'm biased) and we have an idea which involves her setting up a website (which techy OH can help with & host for her) and selling CD's of her singing.

Also she thought about setting up Myspace, Facebook & Youtube sites with "taster" songs to listen which would link to her website.

What I'm looking for are your ideas & comments re:

How would donations be collected?

Pitfalls?

Anything else relevant?

Thanks for reading. Sorry its Long, & Thanks in advance for your help.
Thanks to all who post comps :A :T

  • I fundraised for an exchange trip to Kenya a few years ago & the best fundraise event we did was car washes, we raised loads that way

Remember however wonderful your daughter's voice is you're dealing with a very competitive market. I wouldn't rely on getting very much or indeed anything from singing.

In my experience the simplest ideas are the best. Giving people goods or services such as car washes, cakes or jumble sales in return for donations usually does well. You could also see if the local media would be interested and whether you could get a local company to sponsor her.

The cost of doing the CD's and suff can often outweigh the profits. I agre with Ianna stick to the basics and maybe do the CD's when she has been with a backdrop of pictures and videos of her trip?
