Minimising Cat Shedding by diet?

I am currently expecting my first baby and am on a mission to get my cats to shed less fur if possible so all the baby stuff doesn't get too hairy!
Both the cats spend a lot of time indoors which I believe can play a part in shedding too although once I am on maternity leave/have had baby they will be able to access outside more as I will be home more.
We have no cat flap/outdoor shelter for them so don't let them out when I know I will be out all day and don't let them out at night for risk of cars/predators.
I have a furminator and am brushing them once a week with it (wary of them going bald if i use it too much!) but wondered if switching their diet does actually help with shedding?
They are on a dry diet which is low fat at the moment as boy cat used to be overweight but hes better now as got much stricter with his feeding, girl cat is a lazy lump though so needs a low fat food.
I have heard wet food can be better for shedding and possible weight loss too?
I spend about £40 on their dry food which lasts 3 months for a 10kg bag, considering money will be less soon I am not looking to spend more than that if possible!
Sorry this is long but any tips/recommendations?

Burns state that their dry food minimises shedding. I don't know how true this is, however, I feed mine 50% Burns dried & 50% wet (butchers classic, Bozita, Smilla or whatever) - the dried burns is for one of my cats skin - she had `dandruff' before when having Go-Cat & other less healthy catfoods, as well as chronic furballs. Yes & I then changed the diet & bought a furminator too. Cats do love wet food however & my Tomcat needs it so they have 50/500
