Self employed tax credit renewal?

Hello - not sure whether to put this here or in the self employed board
My partner went self employed last July after finishing his job we estimated his income (profit?) for the year with tax credits which appears at the moment to be spot on. I'm just a bit confused as to what will happen when it comes to tax credit renewal as he wouldntve done his year end yet? ( I dont think!) would we just estimate it again?
Sorry if this is as stupid question as I dont really understand any of the self employed stuff - the bills are getting paid so I dont really need to know much else I guess!!

Before 31st July you will need to declare to the tax credit office - your taxable income from employment or benefits, your husbands estimated self-employed profit plus any other taxable income he had in the 13/14 tax year.
He will be expected to declare his actual self-employed profit by 31st January 2015 as that is he date by which HMRC will expect him to have filed his self-assessment tax return. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
