I do agree about very hot water and removing as much as possible in advance though.
Whereabouts can you buy stardrops now?......................I haven't seen it for years0 -

Very hot water and rubber gloves are essential.
We have very soft water in Wales, this means less washing up liquid. I stock up on Fairy when it's in B&M .
When the heating is off the water from the boiler, on Eco setting, is never hot enough, so boil a kettle.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I know this may sound strange. But at 41 years of age, I am struggling to get clean washing up.
I make sure the washing up bowl is clean and the water is as hot qs my hands can stand. I often use a new sponge and use just a squirt of washing up liquid.
But it still comes out greasy and dirty.
I think it might just be me.
Anyone any ideas.
Thanks in advance.
Yours
Calley
Try the south Asian way of washing up - takes a bit longer but it's a way of doing it with less water slopping about- Rinse the stuff briefly then stack it up from least dirty to most dirty
- Get a scoury sponge with a good squirt of WUL on it, and clean each item, stack the other side
- Rinse in batches, the water with soap in it collecting in the bowl in the sink. You can tip this out every so often. Then stack in the drainer to dry
- At no point is there stuff in the bowl sitting in water.
- This method works even in cold water
When you get to your really greasy/dirty items, you can also soak and scrub, but your previously washed items will be clean and dry. This method works even in cold water - I've done it and even seen it done in places where there's no running water and no hot water unless it's put in a pot over a flame to boil!0 - Rinse the stuff briefly then stack it up from least dirty to most dirty

My grandparents constantly had this problem! The main issue was that they were cooking with FAR too much oil. It's given me an aversion to frying anything other than a stir fry in a wok. I don't buy cooking oil for anything other than a butter substitute in baking. There is virtually nothing I've found that requires frying in oil that can't be saut!ed in water in your frying pan. You also wont get the horrible black burned bits on your pan or your food and most fried meats contain enough fat to brown themselves as the water evaporates.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Home Bargains sell Stardrops too but, personally, I think it's rubbish. I bought some after many endorsements on this forum but 1/3 of a bottle in a bucket of hot water made little difference to my lino and tiles and my flat smelled like a hospital afterwards - yuk! I cant even imagine what the pine one smells like, kwik save 30p toilet cleaner I should imagine
Different strokes for different folks I guess.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. I have a housemate who constantly tuns the tap, be it hot or cold, when he is washing up his stuff. I don't want to be 'that guy' by telling him and I have been living with him since September, but it annoys me so, so much!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I already had to explain to him about why he kept burning stuff to the bottom of the pan.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
