Whats the longest you have waited you have waited on a response from your offer?

We placed an offer on a property on Friday and still waiting to hear back from the vendors. Just wondered whats the longest you have waited on response from one of your offers on a house?

Longest we've waited for was about 3 or 4 (working) days, which we thought was a bit odd as we offered the asking price and stated we were a cash buyer.
In fairness to the vendor though, their solicitor was crap.

So far (and we've only offered on two houses neither of which we've got!) we've always heard back the next day.

Is it possible they had a lot of viewings booked in on the Saturday and/or Sunday? If so they will probably wait until Monday to see if any if those people make offers before coming back to you.

Did you offer under asking price? If so, I always advise holding our on accepting as the buyers often add a bit in desperation. ;)

    Or perhaps they're busy.

Probably in hope that they'd get a higher offer from someone else!!

We've told our EA that we're looking to buy another property with some of the proceeds from the sale of our current one, so it's in their interest to get a good price AND to sell it quickly AND to find us a decent property to buy again.
In theory, this should work out well for us...

Well it was late Friday when we submitted our offer and the EA are only open half day Saturday. Although even though its been on the market for nearly 2 years on the day we had our second viewing they did say they have a cash buyer coming round on the Saturday so maybe waiting to hear from him/her first before deciding on our offer. I just want to know either way so if we don't get it we can look at other properties sharpish...

The longest I've ever waited was 10 days due to a forthcoming bank holiday weekend & vendors wanting to see if any viewings during that period would result in a better offer. It didn't happen, so my offer was accepted.

The longest I've ever kept anybody waiting is just a few days, an offer received on Friday, lower than I was really hoping for & spent the weekend thinking it over before deciding I'd accept as I really liked the family who had made the offer & they could move quick, which was what I wanted to be able to secure a property I'd just viewed.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I've been continuing to look for others while we are going back an forth with offers. I'm in the south east and houses are flying off the market so I'm working on the assumption we won't be the ones getting what we've offered on, even though we've offered asking price.

I hope you have a bit more luck!

We waited a month for our last property the old lady there had convinced herself that someone else would come along and offer more. The house needed lots of work. This time around we waited 48 hours but there was 3 viewings after us and one of them offered too they had a chain we didn't :)
