Think I may have scratched a car

you should know you need to report a collision in person.
No you shouldnt, I thought you could just get a reference number over the phone.
What happens if you have an accident at the road side and the other driver drives off, you dont have to trundle down to the station to report it.
Normally if you contact the police by phone regarding an accident they normally ask if anyone is injured, if the reply is "No" then they will tell you to sort it out between yourselves.0 -

But you have covered your back now, so you havent wasted anyones time, better than a maximum 10points and the chance of being disqualified for not reporting it if things do come to a head0 -

That's exactly what you have to do.0 -
You can't report over the phone ?! Crazy system. Bet this is the reason many are unreported!0

WOW, I'm amazed. I wish all drivers were as thoughtful and considerate as this. My cars spend 40 hours a week parked in supermarket/public car parks. Just got rid of an old one I'd had for 6 years and it had SEVERAL dents and scratches down the sides. One worth noting was where someone had pulled out of a space next to mine and scuffed their tyre and bumper against my car. Not once did anyone attempt to come and see me to ask whose car it was. One of the dents was caused by a car door being opened into mine with some force, as the resulting dent was about 3 inches long. The paint damage polished out, but the dent was still there when I sold it.
You can't have anything nice in this life.
I wouldn't bother trying to contact a.n.other driver about their car. Chances are if another driver prangs yours while it is unattended, they wont bother trying to find you. Its every man for himself in this life. Don't feel guilty. It doesn't even sound like you could have done the damage yourself - it sounds like someone else gashed your car - you would have known if you made contact.Could HAVE. Should HAVE. Would HAVE. And therein lies the problem.
If you cared about your own car, then you'd always take enough care to be sure you'd never hit another one and you'd know right now that you hadn't done so.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Unfortunately, it has me thinking most days whether I should show a moral code if I ever hit someones car, knowing that my fathers car was hit by two different drivers on the same car park on two different days and neither came forward. Along with that, my girlfriends car was hit by someone on the supermarket car park and despite being caught she did everything she could do make life difficult including telling my girlfriend she had no insurance!!!!!Stevefromdonny wrote: »WOW, I'm amazed. My boss does care about his car, and caught mine on the work car park, and only realized when he got home and saw a small smear of red paint. Bigger cars with better sound insulation and louder stereos have made it harder to tell, even if you as much as clip another car.

One of 2 things happened. Either someone scratched your car, and didn't care less, or you shouldn't be driving, if you can't tell if you've hit someone. (It would be obvious unless listening to loud music, in my oppinion)0
