Plumber or electrician? Who do I ask?

My Mira shower is fed from a combi boiler but is not getting as warm as it used to. The hot water to the tap seems ok so I'm assuming it's the shower which does have an electric supply.

Who do I ask to check it for me?

The thermal wax in the shower unit has probably started to lose its property. It is probably a thermostatic shower valve like ours and we've had to change our valve every 4 years approx whilst a different make one in our loft extension has last over 12 years and is slowly going now - we have to turn it to max temp to get hot water.

I think 1st of all you need to ask yourself if it's worth the cost of the parts plus labour to fix? Often it isn't, a replacement is more cost effective. We have had thermostatic showers of our combi over the last 18 years, just 2 different shower units, 5 years seems to be about the limit for the thermostatic capsule.
I have repaired them when gone the 1st time, but factor in that the parts were about 1/2 the total cost of a new shower, plus, I was able to do the work myself.;);)

Does sound as this is a separate electric shower though from your slightly vague description.

It's not an electric shower

It's fed direct from your combi, so a job for a plumber. Such a shower does not have an electrical connection.

You don't necessarily have to replace the parts. If you're good with DIY you can sometimes take the central valve out and sock it in vinagar to remove the limescale and this work. I didn't do this because it was too fiddly for me and didn't have time. Also I didn't have a stop !!!! at te shower which meant the pipe comes straight off the mains boiler.

I has mine fully fitted with parts for £75. Part alone cost more but manufacturer had deal on fitting with parts.

What you possibly have is the wire that originally fed an electric shower. I really hope it's isolated and not switchable from a ceiling rose somewhere in the bathroom. I'd double check,#

The rest of what I said still stands, although it's now clear it's a plumber you need, or a new shower:D:D
