2 Cars Which One? Help and Advice please.
Hi,
So my car failed its MOT today and cost of repairs isnt worth it. Time for a new car.
I have a small budget so its between the two below cars, they are both Chevvy Aveos but I just cannot decide which is better to go for.
First one -

Its got pretty low miles and is a good price.
Second One -

Miles aren't too bad but are 20,000 higher. However it has a couple more add one. Alloy Wheels instead on Steel like the first, 12 months MOT and they list it has service history.
I'm kind of drawn to the one with higher miles. Despite the higher miles they have put about MOT and Service History whereas the other hasn't - which puts me off the first dealer more than anything, plus the first dealer has a poor reviews on Yell.
So what should I do. Go for low miles but could be a lemon. Or the higher miles with Service History?
Thanks.

If there are bad reviews then obviously be wary. But, if the first one has service history/MOT then it looks like a better deal. It depends how important the extras (alloys, MP3 connectivity etc) are to you.0

The little extras are nice to have but they are not massively important. I'm not a car person really so I'm more interested in something that will be reliable and last a good few years.11K Challenge

I know Chevrolet offer a 60,000 mile warranty on their cars, I'm not sure if that has a time limit. If there is still time left on the warranty then the one with lower miles makes the warranty worth more and may help with any concerns you have. All I would say is that if there is a service history, but no MOT just insist that it has to have one before you purchase it. If you are going to look into the warranty more then the service history will be important as most warranties will be void if the manufacturers recommendations on service intervals aren't followed.0
-
Thanks the Warranty is 3 years or 60,000 miles so it's out of warranty now.
I will phone the first one in the morning and find out about MOT, TAX, Service History etc.
Ignoring the first one for a second, do you think the second one is still a decent deal?11K Challenge

Yeah it does. And if you're more confident buying from the seller of the second one then I'd go for that (and you get a few more toys). But if all things were equal (service history, MOT etc) then the first one would be a better deal.0

Thanks Da_Rule that's a great help.
First time buying a car, the one I had was the Mother in laws which she gave me, so I'm new to all this.
Once again, thanks11K Challenge

No problem at all.
You could always use the first advert against the second dealer. "Look theres someone else locally selling the same car with fewer miles, but cheaper." You may get a bit of a knockdown on the price.0 -
Ah, good idea. I may try that11K Challenge

Personally I would normally go for a higher mileage car at a lower price as more depreciation is then taken out for me - but that obviously isn't the case here. 20k miles would probably work out at £10 per 1k so £200 difference and then you'd be paying more for the extra spec so could well cancel out.
My main concern would be buying a Chevy if you are wanting to keep long term as they are pulling out of the UK. Spares and maintenance may start to be an issue and depreciation may also be higher as a result giving you lower price when you want to sell.
