Nexus 5 or note 3

Hi, been deciding on a new phone recently. Was set on note 3 til I looked into nexus 5, quite confused now

Nexus 5, cheaper, pure android, fast, quicker updates. But poor battery & camera (not sure if they've fixed these), and 'only' 4.95" LCD, no expandable memory or exchangeable battery

Note 3, quick, 5.7 amloed, better camera & battery life, better speakers. But touch wiz, more expensive, people say it'll slow down & lag, lots of features people won't use

Not really interested in lg g2, or Sony.

Big screen is quite a must

Any comment on the above?

You're not stuck with touch wiz you just install another launcher from the play store, no jail breaking or anything. I use Nova Launcher free edition on my Note 2, it's splendid, but there are others.

Samsung do force a bunch of extra stuff on you, but it's a quad core machine, it can handle it.

That said I was eyeing up the nexus 5 as my next phone - decided to hold off a moment until the second release versions.

If you're happy with that why are you considering the next nexus can I ask? Looking at rumour on n6 I'm tempted to wait but October feels like a long time & I'd likely get a note3 on contract thst I couldn't get out of :/

Considering it because I can buy it outright and go onto a SIM only deal for less than the contract price with the Galaxy - and it's one heck of a handset for the money.

I always go for the latest, greatest handset on the market at the best price (which excludes all the Apple ones which are good mid-high handsets but cost much more than they ought to IMHO, especially with their walled garden/vendor lock-in approach).

I bought a Nexus 4 last September ... For £199 (16GB version) it was a steal, even though the Nexus 5 was coming out a month or two later.

Daughter got a N5 for Christmas and loves it. A colleague also has the N5 and loves it. (And I'm very happy with my N4).

They're fairly different phones so it depends where your priorities are, personally of the two it would be a Note 3 for the bigger screen, replaceable battery and micro sd expansion. It was the phone I was planning to get to replace my Note 1 but decided the Note 3 was too similar and I wanted a bigger screen.

Decided to upgrade i4 to n5 which ill get off eBay (though poor battery puts me off ) & upgrade 1gen n7 to 2gen n7. Felt that notr3 was too small for a 7inch tablet alternative - couldn't watch ipplayer for more than half hour when tested
