No particular advice re outfits, but I buy pretty much ALL of my workwear from Zara. Have a nose on their website
  • Another vote for Zara. I love Mango for workwear too.

    I agree with Zara.

    Congrats on the new job.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Owed at the end of -
    02/19 - £78,400. 04/19 - £85,000. 05/19 - £83,300. 06/19 - £78,900.
    07/19 - £77,500. 08/19 - £76,000.
  • My goodness! Are you all tall, slim and leggy?!

I love Zara but all their clothes, esp. trousers, are completely the wrong shape for me! Trousers would have to be taken up at least 4".

    I'm 5' 4" and curvy.
  • You mention it being cold, my office is too but I tend to go for tops + cardigan as it can go from one extreme to another as i'm sat near a big window, so layering is always a good option.

I get mine mostly from warehouse/oasis.

    That's the 1920s, hehe :D

If, like me, you're quite curvy then I'd recommend https://www.simplybe.co.uk - lots of nice things there and the customer service is very good.
  • Matalan have some nice workwear as well - smart tailored ranges that have matching trousers, skirts, dresses and jackets. If it's on the chilly side then smart trousers with a blouse and warm cardigan (possibly with a vest under the blouse) or a camisole and thin jumper under a suit jacket should look smart enough :)
If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...

Depends on your work environment and your role. One good maxim is to "dress for the role you'd like to be promoted to". In most sober/conventional office environments that precludes jumpers and cardis if you don't want to be confused with the office secretary/PA/junior admin assistant.

M&S, Next and Oasis sell fairly reasonably-priced work-wear. Buy good-quality, not-necessarily the latest fad foot-wear.

I worked with one young woman who had a dress/trousers/skirt and jacket all in the same colour and fabric which she rotated and wore every day. Always looked really smart and didn't cost an absolute bomb to put together.

Have a look on the street style section of this website to get some ideas, you can filter the category of clothes on the right. It's interesting to see how the same clothes can be worn in lots of ways
