Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
I recently received an email from a friend. It was pointing me to a BBC website to do with dieting anyway I clicked the link and arrived at the site; it certainly looked like a BBC website it had all the right headers there etc. Then I realized of course that I was been directed to a false website and by that stage I had clicked on one of the links.

Today I received a similar email from my niece only this time pointing me to a women's health magazine website the product is called Gacinia Cambogia

Anyway here is my worry the first email was opened on my ipad mini and the second one on my Galaxy 4 mobile. If I am affected I've no idea how to clean them.

I am running a cleanup on my laptop

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Because of the way ios and android are built, its near impossible you could have 'caught something' on the ipad or galaxy, unless you were eedirected to download an apk file on your andriid and you have install from external sources installed. By all means scan your laptop, but if it was that easy to install malware on an ipad the world would be full of stories about it

The bad thing is that now they have your email, and if you have responded to a personalised link, they know your email address is valid, and have responded to spam, possibly putting you more in the susceptible and less techie category than some, making you a possible easier target.

The other point is did your friend, then niece really send the emails? It could be that that both their email contacts have been harvested and that you are being spammed? It more likely that you have used an infected device and your contacts have been harvested from a device including mobile and PC.

Especially on phones, many free apps like some flashlight app request the ability to read contacts, messages, location etc.
