Only if you can prove the parents were negligent. As above, there isnt strict liability that transfers the actions of the kids to their parents.0 -
Best thing to do is just contact the parents and ask them nicely to pay for the damage. They might just agree and then no need to worry or report it to your insurance company. If they don't then get back to us.0

Hi,
I hope I'm not being seen as scaremongering but are you confident that there is no possibility that the OP's insurer now or in the future could find out about this incident? If they can, the only time the OP will know is if they try to make a claim and it gets rejected for non-disclosure of a previous accident. I noted that the police were called so they will have recorded the accident somewhere for example. If you notify your insurer but do not claim from them - as you get the costs from the parents, your No Claims would not be affected.0 -
Thanks for all your replies and input, insurance is always a minefield!
I got a quote for the damage which is around the £120 mark so I would want that paid as its not my fault. Having said that I am still waiting for the police to give me their details, it maybe that they refused to give them then I am left with the bill anyway.
Should I ask for a copy of the police report? I will phone again and ask again for their details.
Also the reason I said I wasnt having a good week was I had another incident that week where some one reversed into me clipping the wheel arch, I ddint manage to get her details as we were asked to move and she just drove off. I have notified my insurance but if I dont manage to see her again (school run) then I will end up paying for this myself (£250). Its turning out to be an expensive week none of my own making.:hello:"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in a fruit salad0 -
Just be careful as notifying too many claims may make it difficult to get insurance in the future.0

Driving away without exchanging details is a crime. You should notify the police. Don't let crime go unreported or unpunished.0
