WRAG to SG?

In light of the recent changes to re-testing ESA claimants, how does one go about being moved from WRAG to SG in the absence of a re-test? They were due one last month but haven't received an ESA50 so presuming now they're stuck for the next two years.

They can't force him on to JSA. To claim JSA, he'd have to make a claim in his own right. (ie, you can't be transferred, whereas you are if you were on IB for ESA)
If his situation has changed, it might be enough for someone to write a letter stating that his condition has changed and you believe he meets the cirteria for the support group. He may be able to get into the support group just by someone writing a letter and sending evidence.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

His situation hasn't changed. He should be in SG but was too scared to appeal when he was put in WRAG. He's schizophrenic. He was hoping the next (i.e. this month) renewal he'd be able to provide more evidence as he's now got his head round the whole claiming process but now he won't get the chance. It's a little over 2 years since last assessment so can't appeal now.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
He cannot appeal the previous decision - it's been too long.
If he reports a change of condition - that should however be processed.
Of course - reporting a change of condition risks being found not to be entitled.0 -
I thought if someone was schizophrenic they would not have to have a medical and would go straight into the support group. My son went to a medical and as soon as the medic knew he was schizophrenic he stopped the medical and said he should be in the support group without a medical. He's been in the SG since and has not been called for a medical since.
But now there is a two year delay in medicals your son should be okay anyway without one for the next two years, which should put his mind to rest until 2016!KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0 -

I'm aware he's outside the 13mths or whatever the limit is. But, there is no change of condition, just that it wasn't properly assessed in the first place. The fear now is that if he asks for a re-assessment he could well be deemded "fit for work" ... as if, that will never happen, not in the the foreseeable.
But, there are talks of Government getting rid of WRAG and putting them all on JSA. There's no way on this planet he could cope with that. And it's this which is making him suicidal. He's only 24

He didn't have a medical but was put in WRAG. They don't go by diagnosis but by how it affects you. He had an OT at the time as his CPN had been moved to another role (NHS cutbacks) who knew very little about him. All went against him but at the time he was relieved to get into WRAG. Never thought this would be a risk a couple of years down the line.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
His ESA may have come up to its re assessment time, but with the DWP its hard to pin down when they will send for you or send you a ESA50, some have gone 6 months past their schedule given at time of acceptance some have had the ESA50 drop through 3 months prior to their scheduled time for re-assessment.
What I would say is now is the time to prepare, get all paperwork copied and ready to go, notify CPN or case workers of possible MH upsets in the near future and ensure a emergency care plan in place if things get ontop of him.
You can also aid the DWP with a copy of his main care plan provided by his psychiatrist/CPN/Social Care worker.0 -
i would still write a lettert.
dont state that there is no change in condition, just state that he feels he meets whichever support group descriptor and enclose evidence to back the claim up
i was recently moved to the support group without even asking, no ESA50 and no reassessment.
it seems to have been triggered by a change in my DLA award, but no significant change in my condition.
i was also aware that when the descriptors changed last year, i could qualify for the support group, but was quite happy to stay in the WRAG0 -
Not that I have heard and, if it was true, someone would need to re-elect them in 2015.~Chameleon~ wrote: »But, there are talks of Government getting rid of WRAG and putting them all on JSA. What is happening is that WRAG are being called in for more frequent interviews - but that is still to talk about the future...0 -
Isn't this just a nasty rumour that has recently been brought back to the forefront...People in the WRAG are still deemed to be ill so how would they qualify for JSA let alone be capable of jobsearching?0
