Pinterest copy cats...I have had enough!

People keep on copying my pictures on pinterest for the same comp...it drives me insane!! Although I know I could keep my board private until the closing date, I havent got the memory or time to do this! I have had enough today so commented on the pin that someone stole from me.....I was quite polite but firm!!

I have tried to understand pinterest but just dont get it so dont bother with it maybe when you look at comps like me you see you have to take from others ideas and pin them to your board that is why it is happeneing

I think that is the main point of pinterest tbh ? I haven't done it with competitions but recently I have been renovating a house and I re-pin peoples pics because I like there ideas, maybe they are repining for that reason and not for the comp ?

Honestly? If something was annoying me this much and I had the power to make it so it couldn't annoy me I'd do that. Keep it private until the last minute!

Thanks for all your helpful comments...jeez is someone not allowed to let off steam! The point of Pinterest is of course to pin pictures but people pin by searching a hashtag for comps then copy other peoples boards. So yes CheCazzo ...honestly!

I'm guessing it doesn't take much to reveal your board from the secrecy setting, so you could always set up a phone / computer alert to remind you to do it.

I'm guessing the problem you're experiencing is your whole board being copied rather just one pic? Which is what can get you disqualified from comps?

Could you include your username as a watermark on the pics, so the source is obvious if / when people lift them?

It winds me up if they copy my whole board for a comp!
I use the secret boards now.

I thought it was fine to repost others' individual pins - and that that was rather the idea of Pinterest... I then change their comments to fit my uses. I don't pinch them, if they have a hashtag for the comp I'm looking for pictures to repin for. Many just don't understand that they can pin images from elsewhere on the web, and they don't need to repin.

I am shocked there are people who copy whole boards though - that is so obviously cheating!

I feel your pain!

A while back it happened to me - I spent ages choosing pictures and adding comments saying why I had chosen the pictures, someone (who uses this forum) came and copied the lot - even the reasons why - and won! I was livid - told the company that they should have been disqualified as they made no effort (except to copy it) but was told there was nothing they could do. I wasn't bothered by not winning, just thought someone who made the proper effort should have been the winner!

As for keeping the board private, I would have thought it would need to be seen by the company holding the competition?

I think the idea is that you can reveal the board on the closing date, so there's less chance of it being repinned beforehand.

Although on some comps, like the current Voucher Codes Life Hacks ones, it sounds like they will repin the pins they like to their board, and then choose from there. Meaning that not revealing the board til the last minute may result in them not seeing it in time to repin any of your pins that they like, and thus count you out of winning.

ETA - in most terms and conditions there's a "not entering into the spirit of the competition" section. I would think your case would fall under that, if the comp had such a condition, jai baby. How annoying for you though
