Well my order arrived just now and it's not good! There are scratches in the metal on several of the pieces. Marks on some. I say scratches, it's more like deep gouges! What have they done to them, put them through a metal grinder before they sent them out?

I ordered from them once before and they happily took my money and sent me a completely different set!

Thank goodness I paid via paypal, I can complain through them.

    Never ordering from them again!

Who IS a good cutlery make these days? Because apparently it's not Viners.

Its a shame, mine were also dreadful.

I also now need to find return details because no invoice or anything in the box.

Reading these posts it's a real shame.

I got a couple of 34 piece sets before Christmas, worked out at £12.50 a set. 18/0 grade so I didn't expect the highest quality but they've now had three months use and I think I've got a good quality set. Nice weight, size and feel and they (hand) wash well (but they do need a polish with the tea towel after washing to get the mirror shine, which my family rarely do!). I'm sure eventually they'll lose the shiny factor with little scratches. Nothing wrong with what I bought though, couldn't get the same weight/strength/quality in any cheap set at the same price I paid.

Perhaps they're selling off the tat?!!! Certainly sounds like they don't keep their standards constant, pot luck what you get in their sale.

There is a returns and exchanges it on their website in frequently asked questions, I think.

I've just emailed customerservices@viners.co.uk and requested a refund. I'm not risking asking for a replacement, the entire set is really bad.

  • For quality English cutlery I buy this brand http://www.arthurprice.com/page/cutlery_new I bought the Mango set in the APK range a few years ago and it cost me £60. I see that it's now £99! It's a lovely set and is used every day and still looks as good as new.

I think Viners got taken over years ago by a large American company.
