Moving from Egypt to the UK (Immigration & Visa's ??)

Hello all,
Sister-in-law about 6 years ago travelled to Egypt to work. She met someone, married...children etc.. She still has a British Passport.
The whole family (Sister-in-Law, Husband, Children) visited the UK for a Wedding and have had ideas about moving to the UK.
We have been asked to provide a letter of Invitation which is a nice thought, though the letter has severe financial consequences for us if things go wrong. We feel that this is the wrong way to enter the UK, as she still has her British Passport...therefore could still move back and invite her husband over (£981 Visa) to stay longer.
However, I cant find any information about this process?

What sort of severe financial consequences would there be for you in completing this Letter of Invitation?
To be honest, if there are likely to be any consequences to you and you are not prepared to accept them, then this family need to enter at their own expense and at their own recognisance.0 -
Basically it says that we will support them during there stay, then return them back home (at our cost) at the end of the visa period.I suspect that she can come and stay on her Passport, unsure on the Children. Husband will need to come, stay for 3 years (I think) then apply to stay forever if he has been a good boy.0

I wouldn't be prepared to support anyone entirely, never mind pay to repatriate a whole family!
She can come and bring their children here I believe but she will need to prove she can support him without recourse to public funds. I think the minimum salary-level is something like £18k or thereabouts.
Honestly, family or not I'd be expecting them to come here under their own steam. To expect you to take on that amount of responsibility is not reasonable.0 -
He should be applying for a spouse visa however she will need to prove she has enough savings to get a suitable house for them all to live in and either have a job already or have enough savings to support them while looking for work. If they don't have enough savings the other option is she moves back with the kids (I'm assuming they also have UK citizenship) and get set up with a house and job before applying for the visa.
I've used this message board in the past: http://www.immigrationboards.com/immigration-for-family-members/
I had a HSMP visa which changed to Tier 1 and found the site very useful in answering questions I had about the application process and proof required. You might get better answers to your queries there.
They should definitely be able to sort this out themselves without you having to provide any financial guarantee the most you should be required to do is write a letter confirming the relationship is genuine.Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)

Hi All,
As expected really, I think asking us was the easy option and I shall bat this back to them.0
