Red light cameras

Hi.

I have a question regarding a potential red light violation.

I was sat in slow moving traffic yesterday near a set of lights with a red light camera on it. As I began to go towards/through the lights they changed to amber therefore I stopped immediately and watched the light turn red whilst stationery.

As i waited at the lights I then realised that I was partially over the line as I had stopped on amber when I was just over. I sat and waited for the lights to turn green before moving off again. As I concentrating on the road and the cars were tight together i couldn't see the markings on the road at the time.

The front of the car went through on amber (then i came to a standstill) and the rest of the car didn't pass through until the lights turned green again.

I understand that as long as no part of the car moved over the line in the road there shall be no violation and that the sensors are motion sensitive and only detect movement when the lights are on red?

Does anyone know if that is that correct?

Thanks

You are correct, from what you have said no offence was commited.

I thought it would be illogical if it was an offence as the alternative would be to go/continue/speed up on an amber which is totally against the rules of the road.
