Viewing password

Is there anyway that I can stop someone viewing my password for the wifi?
Due to behaviour issues of my kids I have changed the password on the wifi but they often need the internet and computer for homework so unless I sit looking over their shoulder the whole time they know they can access the wifi password and then use it for their own devices

When you say "stop viewing password" - are you referring to Physical security (ie Physically watching you ?)
If so - try a HARSH WORD or even not being in the same room as them when you are changing it ...
Or are you meaning - that, for some reason - every time that you log on - you have to input your password ?
Try "connect automatically" - this means that your device does not need you to input your password every time that you log on....

This is a parenting issue not a technical one - if they are using devices for purposes that you don't approve of, take them away from the children.

Your router may allow you to set it to only allow connections from a whitelist of devices, so you'd include the computer but not their phones.

There's a market out there for a router with a user friendly parental control panel.

If they go into the computer they can view the wifi password by going into properties and you tick the box that says view characters
Then they can connect their own tablets iPods etc to the internet, I am not allowing this because of certain issues

My husband and I separated some time ago and he allows them access to his wifi without parental controls, I will not do that but the parental controls are limited and I prefer them not to have access to the wifi until they take the issue seriously

setup mac address filtering on the router, then you can choose which devices can attach based on their ethernet address, or setup time schedules, or remove the wireless dongle, or setup pc passwords, or remove the wifi aerial, or take the devices they are using off them, or setup a wifi password like this - they'll soon get bored.

Taking devices off them just get their dad involved and I could happily punch him but don't want to listen to him feeding their bad attitudes about it being their equipment, I don't have to provide them with the internet though! So decided to take internet access off them but as I say if they need to use the computer for homework I have to sit in the room watching what they are doing so they don't access the wifi password as mentioned above

mac address filtering, and scheduling, then it doesn't matter if they know the wifi password or not, it won't work

I agree that mac filtering would exclude the kids devices.
Or, you could just change the WiFi password each evening after homework. Or just before they start and revert it back later....It takes seconds and will rapidly become just second nature.
