Old Style Daily Thread Saturday 8th March
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy, dull and dreich, bit of a breeze, no frost though.
DH and I up and enjoying a peaceful cuppa.
Dinner last night was ham, egg, chips/jacket potato and salad. Not sure what the meal is tonight, but last time we went to this function it was very nice. It’s always nice when you don’t have to prep and cook it yourself! We’ll be leaving in a little while, early start as DH has to be at an early meeting before the main one.
Was reasonably productive yesterday got all the chores done, and make 2 doz twinks and a Victoria sponge, I will be putting the buttercream in that when we get back tomorrow – if I do it today the boys will eat all the cake and DH won’t get a look in!
On a positive note, have spoken to the finance company that look after the gym I had a membership with (I paid a year's membership on my cc on 20 jan and they ceased trading on the 4 feb) and they have said they will give me a refund of the monies paid - I await that to hit the bank account before I celebrate too much!
Have a great Saturday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Hubby & DGD are still snoring gently, I've fed the fish & made a cuppa.
I need to do some housework today, hubby is going out about 12:30 & I'll take DGD home about the same time, that way I'll have the afternoon & evening to catch up. The mess is even getting to me now & I don't usually care, but what with playing with DGD & helping hubby in the garden I'm not getting much else done. I've started the WM, but there isn't enough in the DW so that will go on after breakfast.
There is a lot of upset at work, a new staff member seems to be upsetting a lot of people, I''m just trying to keep my head down & keep out of the kerfuffle.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning All
Another damp and dreary morning here - the hail storm we had yesterday about 4pm was about the worst I had ever seen. The temperature dropped from 5.5 degrees to 0 in about 10 seconds!
Anyway, I got the dressing table from the freegle site and it is just what DD is after, just need to do a big paint job on in and get some new knobs, quite a lot of work but should be worth it.
Popped over to friends across the road last night to take a birthday present (gin) and ended up staying for a couple of hours and enjoyed a glass of red with them. Lots of catching up to do today - I usually use Friday evening to do the housework for the weekend.
Need to go to the blue and yellow shop for some shelf protectors and then I can move all the files and folders onto my lovely new shelves. Neighbour going to give me a hand to take the sofa bed downstairs into the conservatory.
Not sure what's for eating today, DD will have some more of her vat of soup with a roll, may just be pizza for tea. We are going to a bingo night for the guides (I am a little worried as I haven't played bingo before!).
Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
Belated Happy Birthday for yesterday RedRuby, I hope you had a lovely day x
Dry and dull here, not sure whether to try some washing outside or not. I will check the forecast and then decide.
Need to have a big clean and tidy this morning but am waiting for DH to wake up before I start making a racket. Have done bathroom already but am waiting for him to reach to take down the shower curtain.
Have two books sold on Amazon so am about to pack those up ready for the post office this morning. Haven't done any listing on ebay for ages and really need to get back into that or this house will never be emptied of clutter. Need to restart weekend charity shop drop offs too.
OK better get a move on, have just remembered I need to find something in the freezer for dinner too. Am fancying something spicy so possibly beef with chilli and holy basil.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep warm, well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hi everyone,
Redruby, Happy birthday for yesterday.
NMLC, if you don't get any joy with the finance company claim the money from your cc company.
We won the quiz last night, gave the prize (a box of celebrations) back to go in a raffle sometime. The bloke who runs it has raised over £10,000 a year for the Leprosy Mission for years and years.
DH at the gym, when he comes back we plan to do something in the garden, unless it rains.
Have a good day all.0 -
Morning :hello:
I've hardly spoken to anyone all week, not even in real lifeI've been shifting woodchips from the drive to the back garden - the pile covered the drive and was about 4' tall in the middle - mostly with large buckets and sacks. I ACHE. I forgot to book the van for a tip run so the rubbish is still in the garden but it's in a neat pile and covered in polythene. I can now reach the washing lines and sit on my garden chairs
It's been good weather all week, except for thursday when it was a bit rainy. The garden has dried out well, the chicken run was still a bit soggy so we dug it over then covered it in woodchips. The chickens are having a great time raking through it
There's a tatty old chest of drawers in the shed, full of bits and pieces, bike lights, curtain rings, etc. I want to empty it, give it a good scrub and paint it. I think it'll look nice in the hall. But not today. Today I can't move
I learned a new crochet thing - joining squares as you go. Everyone seemed to be able to do it except me, but I've finally managed it. I'll spend most of today playing with yarn, seeing what I can come up withBulletproof0 -
Came down early and thought I would be nice and let DH have a lie in.
Not long after he came downstairs as he thought I might be ill
Waiting for dds to come downstairs and will do home made toasted bread and boiled eggs for breakfast for us all. Have been trying to eat healthier as a family and have been using the bikers cook books and noting what we have in an exercise book with page number of recipes so we can find favourites easily. Trying to convince myself that losing a pound a week is doing quite well and that losing weight slowly is better than my old method of losing a stone quickly then gaining it back (with friends) equally quickly.
Going shopping later this afternoon to Allidees and combining trip with dropping dd off and possibly nipping to local butcher this morning and getting a family meat pack.
I feel quite daring at having thrown out two pairs of trousers that were getting loose on me and were all bobbled and a bit shabby. Am now wearing a couple of pairs I had in the wardrobe and never worn which are supposed to be the same size yet are quite snug so hopefully will keep my mind concentrated.
Hester
Keep your head down pet and hope things blow over.
Dishwasher has just finished and sinks are cleaned and bleached so I feel quite virtuous.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning all,
Just a quick one before I pop out to drop boyfriend off for his hockey matches and do some bits and bobs. Need to pop to the bank, buy a new smoke alarm, get another CD rack (we have more than we realised!) then get a few food bits (have a stash of vouchers I'm hoping to use :money:). Then home again to maybe do a spot of baking and grab a bowl of yummy homemade soup and bread. Not sure what's for dinner tonight but tomorrow we will do a slow roast pork (joint was a bargain) which should also last us most of the week :T
Feeling a bit brighter this morning than I have done recently, maybe it has something to do with it no longer being dark when I get up and the rain holding off for a couple of days. Still thinking of those that are struggling though, wishing you all some happier times soon.
Right, must dash, just remembered I need to pop something in the post too! Have a good day whatever you are doing (or not doing, sometimes that is just as good)
Emma. x0 -
Morning all,
I'm also feeling a bit brighter today, must be all your positive vibes:D
Emma, I think your right, I feel like the gloom is lifting, much prefer the light
It's a bit overcast here but hoping it brightens as dh wants to go in the garden.
We had planned some decorating but have decided to wait until DGS has gone to his daddy's tomorrow.
Struggling to find a big enough house for us as their will be 19 if everyone goes.
I need to pick up some of my hobbies, I'm hoping to do some crochet today. Sleep wise I was awake until 3 but did manage to sleep then until around 9 so not too bad
Better get some bacon on, have a good Saturday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
