Goldfish card ppi claims

Last year a put a claim in to Barclay cardfor a ppi claim. It would have originally being a goldfish card going back to 1993. I supplied the some detail of account numbers and some statements to show it had ppi. The claim was rejected, I recall taking the card out on line and a call handler calling back at later time to go through my details and I remember them stating at the time that payment protection was a requirement terms of the card approval and wasn't an option not to have it.
After it was rejected I read article in the paper that some banks had been rejecting claims without proper investigation, I decided to resubmit the claim again in January, I called yesterday to ask for an update they stated that there was ppi on the card the claims teams have done the investigating and that it has been passed to another team for further investigation as it had been a re-open case, I asked how long would this process take, she replied at can take upto 18 months as I haven't taken it to the ombudsman it was the same team that would look into it and they will probably get to the claim sooner, and she suggested call once a month to see where they are with the claim as there would be no time scale on the re-open case.
1)Has anyone had anything similar,
2)should I contact the ombudsman,
3)has anyone ever being successful with Goldfish card claims.

You will have to wait. You are far too late to contact the ombudsman. To use them, you have to forward your complaint within 6 months of the refusal letter from your creditor.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

How on earth did you take out a credit card online in 1993?0

My application in 1999 was by mail shot to my knowledge it was not on line in my case.
I spoke to them on the phone to activate the card and was told that PPI was part of the conditions of the account.
Further down the line I had health problems in fact had long term health issues before taking the card and I was not told that it would negate any claim I would have , nothing was explained to me.
I put a complaint in but it was never answered then in 2009 I contacted them when miss sales were exposed in the media and in return it was rejected , I sent it on to the FOS early 2010 it was over eighteen months later the complaint was upheld .
That was September 2013 and to this day despite the FOS helpfully liaising with Barclays with my ID and BACS details for redress to be paid , this has not happened. In the meantime I wrote to Barclays PPI dept with my query about this situation and all I have had back is , we have no account in your name !!! Therefore not upheld take to FOS .
What is going on there I have not got a clue but I will not give up.Light travels faster than sound.

Update:
Called barclaycard today for an update, I was told as it's been 2 months since I called for a update. I was told that they are going through statements at present and calculation PPi payments and will be I touch shortly. I think this sounds positive as am sure if they thought it wasn't miss sold they would be calculation amount of ppi paid0 -
I realise it's a 4 year old post but was your claim upheld? Day 32 or 40 day investigation and also at statement stage0

It surely can't be coincidence that so many ancient threads have been bumped today can it?
Odd that similar has happened in mid August perpetually while I have been a member here.
Whatever will those pupils do next year when PPI complaints are no more?0 -

I had a Goldfish credit card since the 90's. It's now a Barclaycard. Generally I've paid off "in full" each month, so presumably no PPI claim there.
However, I did take out a loan on it, around 2000/2001 but no longer have the details of the loan amount and how long I had it for. Can I claim without that info? I do still have the account number.0 -
