Flat purchase

I have purchased a first floor flat at a sum less than stamp duty £120,000. If I were to purchase the ground floor to again in my name would I be liable for stamp duty as the whole sum would be over £250

It depends wheher HMRC would view these as 'linked transactions'.

Also depends if the seller was the same person.

If you bought both flats at the same time, then they would be linked.

If there were a month between purchases, HMRC would probobly consider them linked.

If a longer gap, it would depend on the length of time, HMRC's policy, and the specific circumstances.
