Want To Move Away From Prepay Gas and Electric

Hi,
We are currently with British Gas for both our Electric and Gas however we do have prepayment metres for both utilities. I can see that the charges for this method of payment is so much more that on a postpay account however British Gas advise that we cannot move due to adverse Credit History. Now its clear that we are being ripped off for this method of payment and I wanted to know what I can do (if anything) to convince BG to change our payment method and out metres?

Anyone got any solutions pls?

Kind Regards

Ebico charge exactly the same for pre-pay customers as they do for their quarterly/direct debit customers. They are not particularly competitive, unless you have very low consumption, at the moment(they might be in September) but are probably cheaper than BG pre-payment tariff.

You could see if a 'threat' to change to Ebico will work.

If your credit history problems are behind you, you could see if you could negotiate with BG and give them, say, a £100 advance payment so you are in credit.

You cannot blame BG(or any Utility Company) from not wanting to go through the expense of changing your meters when there is the possibility they may have to go through more expense to change them back to pre-pay if you fall behind with your payments.

No. Unless you are prepared to pay the security deposit you will have to switch to another company.
