Hi guys, I have been with my current insurer (direct line) for yonks, but the renewal is really high this year. I have done a comparision and Elephant are showing as cheapest. I have looked online and they seem ok, but I figured you guys on here would know…are they OK as an insurer?
Thanks in advance.

Google which? recommended car insurance.
They have a league table there. Look at the very bottom!0 -
I've been with Admiral (who are owned by the same group as Elephant) for 3-4 years now and not had a problem... but I haven't had any accidents either...0

THanks guys.
Interesting to hear that they are connected to Admiral. I was with them years ago and my sister is with them now and we had no issues there.Google which? recommended car insurance.

Any idea why they score low? It's not a clickable link on the which site, so i can't see why they don't score well.PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

There looks to be a reason why they are so cheap!0 -
When mine and my dads cars were stolen 7 years ago my dad was Elephant and his claim was dealt with fine, I was with Bell (same company EUI) and when my car was recovered they reinsured it, later found out that they hadn't and I had been driving illegally for a month, luckily I had the policy cover note that they had issued plus we got phone call transcripts.
Same company, same call centre advisors but two very different experiences. I'm with tesco bank now, they are quite comparable, were cheaper than admiral for me.0 -
Admiral group are cheap and cheerful.
Personally I used them for a number of years and only switched from them last year as I bought a brand new car and they dont provide new vehicle replacement cover in the first 12 months of ownership unlike almost every other insurer.
Had to speak to them many times with CoA, CoV, TAVs etc and whilst there were long waiting times on the phone the staff were always really friendly, bubbly and chatty (possibly part of the waiting time). Only had one problem with anything they did which was where they somehow insured a car for me without actually taking its vehicle registration but one call 5 minutes later sorted that out.
Had one claim whilst with them, was fault so didnt get palmed off to Albany and to be honest, my garage dealt with them end to end despite not being one of their approved repairers. Repair authorisation was a bit slow which meant the TAV ran out before the work was complete but a complaint about being charged another admin fee was resolved quickly and the fee waived when Claims confirmed it was their fault.
Strangely they have no interest in trackers but do want to know about every modification including factory fitted options. Can be advantageous if you have a higher value vehicle but dont want to pay for a tracker0
